Thanksgiving: A Reminder of Why We Serve

I’ve always believed that the heart of good business is simple: serve first.

Serve with integrity.

As business owners, Thanksgiving gives us a moment to pause — not just to reflect, but to realign. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day rush of tasks, deadlines, and everything that comes with running a business. But at its core, business isn’t about transactions. It’s about people. And service is what connects us.

Serve with intention.

Serve because it matters.

For me, gratitude isn’t a feeling I look for once a year — it’s something woven into the work I do. Every new client conversation, every messy set of books that needs clarity, every business owner doing their best to build something meaningful… these are opportunities to help someone move forward. That’s what I’m thankful for — the chance to serve people who are working hard to build their dreams.

When you put service first, something interesting happens:

Success becomes a byproduct, not the goal.

If I gain something because I helped someone else gain stability, peace of mind, or confidence in their business — then that’s a win for both of us.

This Thanksgiving, my gratitude is focused on the people I get to support: the brand-new business owners trying to get it right from day one, the established companies navigating growth, the ones who’ve trusted me with their books and their vision. Your trust is the real gift.

So as you gather with friends, family, or even enjoy a quiet moment to yourself, I hope this season brings you clarity on what truly drives you — and who you can uplift through your work.

From my small business to yours:

May gratitude guide your decisions, and may service keep you grounded.

Happy Thanksgiving.
